We know that music is always an important part of our holiday celebrations. In fact the holidays are full of musical traditions. Like the one we found in the Berlin area. Even with the closing and painfully slow reopening of the paper mills there, you might expect some North Country communities to be a little low on Holiday spirit - but, we found just the opposite.
We found a community of people who are positive about the future. A group of people who have learned that family and friends are the important things in life. A group of people who are learning to talk to each other in new ways. And, a group of people who are touched by the concern and assistance they have recieved from the rest of the state.
Last year we recorded the Christmas Charity Performance of the North Country Community Chorus at the new St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts in Berlin. We also talked to people then and now about the celebration, the strength of community and the importance of friends all over the Granite State.
